Matt O’Brien’s match haul of 34 points verses Bridgend on Saturday set a record for the most points ever scored by a Newport RFC payer in one match. Matt’s 34 bettered the previous best of 33 by Gareth Rees and before him 32 by Laurie Daniel. Match scored 2 x 5 point tries and 12 x 2 point conversions.
The 89 points scored by Newport are the highest ever in a league match for the club. The winning margin of 63 was also a league record for us as were the 13 tries and 12 conversions.
