The club were saddened to hear of the death of former player Neil Brown who has been living in Matamata on the North island of New Zealand.
Neil played over 100 games for the club in the 1970’s, predominantly in the centre and often alongside his great friends and British Lions David Burcher and Gareth Evans.
Perhaps his most famous hour was playing in the 1977 team that beat Cardiff in the Welsh Cup Final.
David Burcher commented that Neil would be greatly missed and that he was ‘One of life’s nice guys’.
Newport RFC sends it condolences to Neil’s wife, children, family and friends.
