Bill Morris

The club was very sad to hear of the passing of former player William ‘Bill’ Morris last week. Bill played extensively in the second row for Newport RFC during the 1960’s, often alongside his great friend Brian Price.

Born in Australia, Bill grew up in North Wales and represented Wrexham before moving to South Wales and joining Newport.

Bill wore the black and amber for 167 games between 1963 and 1969 with 111 of those being victories.

Bill was also capped for Wales on two occasions whilst with Newport. Both victories.

Several times a Barbarian, Bill went on the 1969 tour that they arranged to South Africa.

The club sends its condolences to all of the Morris family and their friends.
