Newport RFC were saddened to hear of the passing of former scrum half John Morris last week. John came to Newport in 1959 from St Luke’s College and represented the club 27 times scoring 7 tries in three season at Rodney Parade. John regularly played inside our club President Brian ‘BJ’ Jones. He later played extensively for Lydney where he is best remembered. John was also an England schools cap.
John’s brother Gordon also played for Newport but in the second row before moving to Swansea to play for The Whites and later serve on their committee.
Newport RFC sends its condolences to John’s family and friends.
