On Saturday Newport face a Cardiff team that are having a mixed start to the Premier League season with three wins, three losses and a draw. But the Blue & Blacks won the most important game – a 38 – 15 victory over the Black & Ambers in the Indigo Premiership Cup game. Ty Morris’s men go into this encounter after a run of four bonus point wins but, as supporters will know, games between these two sides don’t always go to form.
Newport make just three changes to the fifteen starters for Pontypridd, Dan Suter and Barny Langton come in to the pack and Lloyd Lewis replaces Elliot Frewen in the backs. The 10-12 partnership with Carwyn Panny and Matt O’Brien continues.
Jon Morris will play his 150th game for the club tomorrow. He joined from Newbridge in season 2014-15 and quickly became a favourite of the supporters with his whole-hearted displays in attack and defence. Let’s hope he adds to his 50 tries.
