Games between Newport and Pontypool are always closely contested and regardless of their league position the valley club will raise their game when they visit their near neighbours. We had a fright when we last met in January at Newport Stadium with the game ending in a draw – a game that we could easily have lost. More recently Pooler has endured a bad run of form but that ended last Saturday when a second half come back earned them a big win over Llandovery.
