Richard Davie Garnons Williams was born in Radnorshire.Eduvated at Magdalene College School Oxford and Cambridge University. 3 apps in 1880/1 (of 14 matches played). Won his only Welsh cap in first team to represent Wales vs England, 19 Feb 1881. Also represented Wales at soccer. Played rugby for Brecon, Oxford and Cambridge Univs and RMC Sandhurst. Retired in 1890 at age 34. At outbreak of WW1 he rejoined army at age of 58 and became a Lieut-Colonel in 12th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. 

Killed in action at Loos on 27th Sept 1915 aged 59.
