Strength and Conditioning Coach Required

Part time position available with Newport RFC

In this exciting opportunity the successful candidate will lead the Strength and Conditioning for Newport RFC 1st team. This will include leading gym and pitch based conditioning sessions with the squad and injured players, working closely with the Newport RFC Medical and Technical staff. Contact time with Newport RFC will be approximately 10-15 hours per week and will be mainly evenings and weekends. The contract will run to the end of the 2018/2019 season and has the potential to be renewed for further seasons.

Roles and Responsibilities

·         Gym and field based Strength and Conditioning for 1st team players

·         Individual and group rehabilitation

·         Gym and anthropometric monitoring and screening

·         Recovery strategies

·         Performance Nutrition

Essential

·         BSc or equivalent in Sport, Exercise & Science / Strength and Conditioning

·         Strength and Conditioning qualification (e.g. UKSCA, NSCA) or showing the ability to gain accreditation within six months

·         Excellent presentation ad IT (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills

·         Strong program design and knowledge of Strength and Conditioning principles and technique

·         Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Desirable

·         MSc or currently working towards an MSc in Strength and Conditioning

·         Previous experience coaching or playing rugby

·         Knowledge of injury pathology and rehabilitation
