Gordon Keeley

By Kevin Jarvis | 21/09/2018

Everyone associated with Newport RFC, FoNR and the Former Players Association was saddened to receive the news that Gordon Keeley passed away on Monday.

Gordon was born in Newport and played for Newport schools and Newport RFC Youth teams during WW2 before joining the RAF. On return from service he played 56 times in Black & Amber during the early 1950's in what was a golden era for the club.

A regular attender at former player functions and a very big supporter of Friends of Newport Rugby Trust, Gordon will be sadly missed by his many friends at the club.

A minutes silence will be held for Gordon along with Ray Cheney and Haydn Mainwaring at the match against Bedwas on Sunday afternoon.
