There will be some tired and aching bodies in and around Newport today after the Newport squad reconvened for pre season training yesterday and were subjected to a full-on session of theory, gymnasium, sprints and tactics sessions all on Day 1.
The evening session at Rougemont school started with an introductory session for the full squad presented by Craig Warlow and Ty Morris outlining the basic tactics that the team will be focusing on for the new season along with some key formations in attack and defence. Next it was into the gym for a hard session run by Chris Jones to get the players warmed up and ready for action. What then followed were short, sharp and focused sessions alternating between strength/condition runs and putting into practice some of the basics of our new game plan for 2018/19. It was tough stuff and everyone applied themselves very well in the first of what will be two months worth of training sessions and practice matches.
The squad will also be doing some social activities together on future weekends that will be good fun as well as improving fitness and teamwork. That starts this weekend with a climb of Pen-Y-Fan.
