Unsung heros rewarded at gala dinner

On a night where superb performances on the pitch were rewarded with trophies and accolades Newport RFC picked up an award for the contribution its medical team have made off the pitch.

During a league match at Aberavon recently a Wizards supporter suffered a heart attack just before kick off and was attended to by the medical teams of both Aberavon and Newport. A similar incident at a match between Bargoed and Ebbw Vale occurred just a week earlier and so all four teams backroom medical staff were awarded the Principality Premiership Unsung Hero award for their lifesaving actions at the matches.

Without a doubt both lives were saved by the actions of the medical teams and it was particularly pleasing that Jeremy Williams could receive the award on behalf of Newport RFC and receive very warm and heartfelt thanks from the family of the supporter whose life he helped save.
