Nobody at Rodney Parade or indeed in Wales will need reminding that Newport, Wales and British Lions outside half David Watkins is one of the finest players ever to play the game of Rugby Union but following a superb career in the 15 man code, Dai 'went North' and then excelled at the 13 man version of the game in Rugby League.

David played for Salford for many years in the late 60's and 70's where his achievements were equally grand and well recognized. He also played for and captained the Great Britain league team. David is as much a superstar in Salford and England as he is here in Newport and Wales.

On Friday night at a dinner hosted by The Welsh Charitables, David was inducted into the Welsh Rugby League Hall of Fame. Everyone at Newport RFC would like to congratulation David on this latest well deserved accolade.
