The Bridge Field outfit are at the bottom end of the table but that isn’t a true reflection of the way they are playing. They have lost their two games in the second part of the season, but they were against Pontypridd and Merthyr and they could easily have gone the other way. It’s honours even against Newport with Bedwas getting a comfortable home win early in the season and Newport just getting the win at Rodney Parade with a last kick penalty by Matt O’Brien.
The Black & Ambers, although on a four-game winning run, will be looking for a significant improvement after an error strewn performance last time out. The coaching team has a lot to work on and watching the video of last Sunday’s game against Ebbw Vale must be painful. That said, it was encouraging to see that the players put in a lot of demanding work and kept going until the final whistle.
It was good to see Owen Davies get some game time after injury and there are one or two others who might be available for this game.
Just two changes in the starting fifteen with Will Evans getting the nod at hooker and Chay Smith returning from Wales Sevens duty. Adam Sabri and Evan Whitson join a strong bench which also includes the returning John Lavender.
