Newport RFC are thrilled to announce that Adam Palfrey has volunteered to join the commercial team supporting the Black & Ambers.
Adam will be well known to many supporters as an excellent centre who appeared for Newport RFC in the mid 1990’s as well as Cardiff, Swansea, London Welsh, Caerphilly and Neath. A Cambridge Blue, Adam also represented Wales at Student and U21 level. He was awarded the Newport Arthur Boucher ‘most promising player’ award at in 1995/96.
Off the field the confident businessman has worked in many different fields and across the world. Most recently he was head of sales in Asia for Inter Milan football club. He has returned to Wales and is now Commercial Director of Refreshing, a sponsorship and development agency, a company that specialises in sports, entertainment and educational companies, including strategic campaign research, development, planning and execution.
Adam said, 'I see a real need for many sports organisations and clubs in Wales to be educated in areas of sports sponsorships and commercial partnerships. There is certainly opportunity out there to generate much needed revenue if clubs can look at their offering and provide value to commercial partners.'
Adam and his skills are a perfect fit for the future that is in front of Newport RFC and the need for the club to seek out new revenue streams to fund the on the pitch activities.
A friend and team mate of our club manager Mark Workman, he is a very welcome addition to the team. Mark commented, ‘I have known Adam as a team mate and friend for many years and since his retirement from playing have watched his professional career progress very rapidly. I’m delighted that he is back helping out at a club that was instrumental in setting him on the path to what he has achieved.’
Newport RFC Commercial Director Kevin Jarvis added, ‘In the short few weeks that Adam has been back at Rodney Parade I have been engaged by his positive influence and enthusiasm to drive the club forward. Adam has arrived with a bag full of fresh ideas, some of which we hope to start rolling out soon to support our current team and the black and ambers of the future.’
