Although Bargoed are sitting at the bottom of the league that doesn’t tell the whole story.  They have lost several games by just a score or two and when they beat Newport at Rodney Parade they looked a very good outfit. Their pack looked comfortable at the set piece and they pressured all over the field causing the home team to make mistakes which were punished.

The Black & Ambers have been playing some very attractive rugby and their brand of high tempo expansive rugby has seen some great tries being scored.  It will be interesting to see if they take this game to Bargoed Park or if they adapt their game to the heavier conditions.

There are a few players unavailable due to injury and Wales Under20s duties but Newport are still able to field a strong team and a very useful bench.

Newport: John Lavender, Henry Palmer, Garin Harris, Joe Bartlett, Dan Partridge, Morgan Burgess, Kyle Tayler, Rhys Jenkins ©, Owen Davies, Matt O’Brien, Jon Morris Chay Smith, Haydn Palmer, Elliott Frewen, Geraint O’Driscoll.

Replacements:  Will Evans, Nicky Boyce, Ken Dowding, Rhys Cresswell, Alex Everett, Ryan Bates, Haydn Simons, Curtis Ayling.

Kick off: 7:30 PM
