Newport RFC were sad to hear of the passing of John Herrera last week. John had two spells playing for Cross Keys and was also their chairman either side of seven seasons playing for Newport.
John pulled on the famous black and amber jersey 182 times and was a permanent fixture in the second row for many years alongside Ian Ford. John played for Newport in his 'proudest moment' against the 1954 touring New Zealand All Blacks.
The club sends condolences to John's family and friends and everyone at Cross Keys RFC.
