As other clubs announce their summer signings, Newport RFC have detailed the players they have either released or those who have chosen to move to other clubs. Top of the list is our captain Adam Brown who is retiring from first class rugby after taking up a full time position as physio with Newport County. This will restrict Adam’s ability to be available to Newport RFC but he will be playing his rugby, when available, locally with Newport HSOB, so don’t be surprised if you do see him ‘on parade’ again.
A quartet of players head down the A48 to Cardiff RFC. The Blue & Blacks have previously announced the signing of James Greenfield, Dan Partridge and Rueben Tucker but Dan has chosen to stay with Newport. Llwyarch ap Myrddin, or Larry to us, is also heading to Cardiff along with prop Fraser Young who didn’t feature this season due to injury.
Long term injured players Owen Williams, Craig Atwell and Brendan Lampitt head to Pontypool Park along with Rhodri Jones, who had a great second spell in black and amber. Tom Riley leaves to join Merthyr RFC.
All of these players gave great service to our club and we wish them well with their future rugby careers. Newport have announced and will continue to release details of the players retained and those new signings who are on board for the new season. Follow the website for regular updates.
