October 30th 2013 sees the 50th anniversary of Newport RFC's magnificent win against the All Blacks.
The Black & Ambers were the only team to beat Wilson Whinerary's 1963/4 team and this was no second rate New Zealand team. This was a great New Zealand team with Clarke, Whineray, Meads, Tremain, Lochore and Nathan amongst others. Was there ever a better back-row or captain?
Sir Wilson James Whineray, KNZM, OBE (10 July 1935 – 22 Oct 2012) was a business executive and the longest-serving captain of the All Blacks, New Zealand's national rugby union team. Rugby writer Terry McLean considered him the All Blacks' greatest captain.
Further details will follow for the reunion of the players with special guests which will take place at the Bisley Suite on Weds Oct 30th 2013 6PM for 6:30PM.
There will be a limit of 270 places.
