Newport RFC has announced the signing of two more players for the 2012/13 season with Will Hodnett and Will Richards the latest arrivals at Rodney Parade.
Will Hodnett has been playing for Luctonians as an outside half but has impressed in training with his fitness and exceptional pace and will be considered as a winger for the season ahead.
Will Richards has also been playing for Luctonians but is originally from South Africa where he came through the age-grade system. He can play centre or fullback and has a big physical presence on the pitch.
Speaking about the latest signings, Newport head coach, Sven Cronk, said: “The announcement of Will Hodnett and Will Richards to Newport RFC bolsters our backline and provides us with strength in depth. They are exciting young players and we are expecting them to make a big impact in a black and amber jersey.”
Newport RFC would like to extend congratulations to Hywel Stoddart who has recently signed a professional contract with Newport Gwent Dragons.
Sven Cronk, said: “Although we were looking forward to seeing Hywel in a black and amber jersey this season we get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing him sign a professional contract with the Dragons. Newport first saw his potential when he was playing for Tonmawr and signed him last season even though he was carrying an injury. He worked really hard to get fully fit and deserves his chance with the Dragons.”
