A game of rugby at Rodney Parade on a Saturday afternoon played on a warm, dry, sunny day against our neighbours Cross Keys. What could possibly be better than that.
The Pandy Park outfit are having a mixed season when it comes to results. After two good wins over Cardiff and Llandovery they then lost to Bedwas in a high-scoring game and on Tuesday they were narrowly beaten at home by Bridgend. We are not used to seeing them in the bottom half of the Premier Division after the success they’ve had for many years and with three home games to go they could still climb up the league table. Playing against Newport always brings out the best in them and we can be sure they will be up for this game,
The Black & Ambers lost to Bedwas on Tuesday when the home team bagged a try in injury time. Once again players were rested and those who played gave their all in wet, blustery conditions. Several players were on permit as the coaches took the opportunity to look at potential recruits. Given all the changes it was a good performance.
We are still in the middle of a very busy period with Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday games coming up and the coaches need to use our resources carefully. We also have some players carrying injuries but can still select a useful looking team.
