On Wednesday we play the last game before Christmas and the last game of the first phase of our fixture list. It has been good playing our nearest neighbours home and away but I’m sure that we are all looking forward to our games against our friends and rivals from further west. A win for Newport would see us move up a place in the league and could possibly mean carrying an extra, valuable point in to the second stage of the league
Cross Keys are not quite reaching the heights that they have got used to over the last few seasons but are always a very difficult side to beat. No matter what their form is, a trip to Rodney Parade will always motivate them and we can expect a stern test.
The home side have a spring in their step at the moment following a hard fought win at a freezing Bargoed. The Black and Ambers were determined to avenge a home defeat and achieved just that although it was getting a bit tense at the end.
The squad has been working hard during this two week break and it looks like the coaching team will have some tough decisions to make when selecting the team and replacements. Most of the players are available for selection but a couple are carrying niggling little injuries and the matchday squad will be selected after training on Tuesday.
