EBBW VALE vs. NEWPORT

Newport head north to Eugene Cross Park to face an Ebbw Vale side that have yet to find the form that we have seen over the last few years.  After a tight away win against Bargoed they went down at home to Pontypridd and last Saturday they lost at Pandy Park in a dour contest against Cross Keys.  They will surely be fired up for Saturday’s game and records show that the last five games between the two sides have resulted in the home club’s favour.

Despite this statistic, The Black & Ambers will be feeling good after last weekend’s thrilling victory over Pontypridd.  Both sets of supporters were praising the performance of both teams as they laid on a very exciting game on the new Rodney Parade surface.  The coaches were very pleased with a much improved display as the home side reduced the error count, made their tackles and really played like a confident outfit.

Even after this superb effort the coaching team make changes as they look to test new players and try different combinations.  Lennon Greggains comes in at 8 between Rhys Jenkins and Kyle Tayler with Morgan Burgess moving into the second row alongside Joe Bartlett.  The front row starts again with John Lavender and Garin Harris packing down alongside Henry Palmer.  The half back pairing is Ryan James and Matt O’Brien but outside them sees a new centre pairing of Adam Sabri and Chay Smith.  Jon Morris moves to his regular wing position with Corey Howells claiming the other wing spot after a try-scoring debut last time out.  Haydn Simons keeps the 15 jersey following his Man-of-the-Match performance.

Replacements:  Evan Whitson, Matt Prosser, Tom Piper, Rhys Cresswell, Alex Everett, Owain Davies, Tom Pascoe, Harri Lang.
